Mrs. Ruth or "Maw" as she was known to her family, passed away Friday, November 25, 2016 at the home of her granddaughter. She was 97 years old. A native of Sorrento, she was born on October 8, 1919. She joins all of her loved ones who have gone before: her parents, Felix and Nettie Guedry Villnuve; her husband, Donald Jumonville; a son, Dudly Jumonville; a daughter, Dixie Edmonston; a granddaughter, Kippi Andrews; a grandson, Randy Jumonville; her sister, Dorothy Benton and her brothers, Theophile and Jesse Villnuve. She leaves behind to cherish her memory: a daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Terry Andrews; a granddaughter and husband, Keely and Stephen Callender; her grandsons and spouses, Mike and Dollie Daigle, Wally and JJ Daigle, Sidney and Shelia Edmonston and Mark Jumonville; her brother-in-law, Larry Jumonville; life-long friend, Mrs. Johnnie Powers and caregiver, Shirley Harrison. Mrs. Ruth was a member of the greatest generation. They were a special breed of people who were strong, caring, selfless, resourceful, and no strangers to hard work. Like most women of that era, she took great pride in her home and family. She lived a simple life, working tirelessly polishing her domestic skills, which made her an excellent cook, seamstress, and gardener. True to her Cajun heritage, what she enjoyed most was dancing and passing a good time with others. She loved us all. Now that death has set her spirit free, may she dance with the angels. Her farewell party, as she called it, will be held at Ourso Funeral Home of Gonzales on Monday, November 28, 2016 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Visitation will resume on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at Ourso Funeral Home of Gonzales from 9:00 am until a celebration of her life at 11:00 am officiated by Pastor Carl Sullivan. Interment will follow at Hope Haven Garden of Memories Cemetery of Gonzales. To offer condolences to the family, please visit www.oursofh.com.
