Marjorie Wolfe Barbera, "MaMaw Bera" as she was affectionately known, was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She was born on December 6, 1923 in New Orleans, LA, the only child of Eunice and Osburn Wolfe. Her father died when she was a young child and she was raised by her stepfather Hypolite Forfer whom she adored. She died at her home in Gonzales, LA on May 9, 2017 at the age of 93 surrounded by her adoring family and friends. Margie, as she was called by her friends was a 30-year resident...

Marjorie Wolfe Barbera, "MaMaw Bera" as she was affectionately known, was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She was born on December 6, 1923 in New Orleans, LA, the only child of Eunice and Osburn Wolfe. Her father died when she was a young child and she was raised by her stepfather Hypolite Forfer whom she adored. She died at her home in Gonzales, LA on May 9, 2017 at the age of 93 surrounded by her adoring family and friends. Margie, as she was called by her friends was a 30-year resident of Gonzales, having moved there from Harahan after the death of her husband Salvadore "Sam" Barbera. She and her husband enjoyed camping during which they camped in several clubs making many livelong friends. She loved flowers and gardening, always having the prettiest yard on the block. She was an avid reader as well as an excellent cook and loved to cook for her beloved family. She loved to sew and created many beautiful garments and quilts for herself and her family. She adored her cats and dogs and they so loved her. Marjorie was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. She was a member of St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church. Marjorie is survived by her daughters Jean Barbera Duhon (Richard) and Marilyn "Janet" Barbera Kemp (J. C. Sanchez); 5 grandchildren Tammy Duhon Suir (Eric), Kim Duhon Funck (William), Chris Danos (Julie), Jennifer Danos Dier (Joey) and Collette Barbera; 11 great grandchildren Richard Suir (Amanda), Dane Suir (Emily), Erica Suir White (C. J.), Laura Suir Heath (Caleb), Amy Duhon (Jacob), Amanda Funck Nyblom (Ean), David Funck, Devin Funck, Nicholas Danos, Jessalyn Dier and Maddalyn Dier; 18 great-great grandchildren Vincent Suir, Robert Suir, Samuel Suir, Parker and Jack Suir, Beau White, Ann, Grace and Eric White, Lee Heath, Jane Heath, Paul Heath, Brilynn Perrodin, Charlee Perrodin, Landen Funck, Leigha Funck, Kayleigh Nyblom and Krystallynn Funck. She was preceded in death by her husband, Salvadore "Sam" Barbera; son, Charles "Jerry" Barbera; mother, Eunice Forfer; father, Osburn Wolfe; stepfather, Hypolite Forfer; father and mother-in-law Sam and Mary Barbera; sister-in-law, Marilyn Barbera and beloved cousins, Sewel and Grace St. Pierre. Visitation will be held at St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church, Gonzales, LA on Friday, May 12, 2017 starting at 9 a.m. followed by the Mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m. Father Rubin Reynolds will be officiating. Pallbearers will be Chris Danos, Nicholas Danos, Richard Suir, Dane Suir, Eric Suir and William Funck. Honorary pallbearers will be Joey Dier, J. C. Sanchez, C. J. White and Caleb Heath.
